Thousands of African American women have joined a class action lawsuit against major hair and cosmetic companies, including L’Oréal, Revlon, and Namaste Laboratories. The plaintiffs allege that chemicals in hair relaxers and straighteners caused severe health issues, such as uterine and ovarian cancer, and uterine fibroids. This legal action follows a 2022 NIH study indicating that frequent users of hair relaxers have more than double the risk of developing uterine cancer compared to non-users. Over 8,000 cases.
